Day Trader 'Freaked Out' Over Friend’s UBS Compliance Role

Law360, London (November 26, 2018, 5:11 PM GMT) -- A day trader told a London jury on Monday that he “freaked out” when he discovered that a family friend he is facing trial alongside on charges of insider trading worked as a compliance officer at UBS AG.  

Independent mergers and acquisitions trader Walid Choucair said he initially tried to avoid his friend Fabiana Abdel-Malek after she hit him with “a bomb” when she told him she had moved from fixed income to investment banking compliance at UBS because of her access to inside information on potential takeover deals the bank was working on.
