Insurers, La. Cos. Settle $10M Row Over Tornado Coverage

Law360 (February 4, 2019, 7:41 PM EST) -- A slew of insurers have reached a deal to settle a $10 million coverage dispute over the destruction of a New Orleans warehouse in a 2017 tornado and have received a Louisiana federal judge's blessing to shelve the suit, according to court documents filed Monday.

A lawyer for a group of insurers named as defendants in the suit wrote to the judge Monday with news of the settlement. That was closely followed by the judge's stay order. In the suit, Port Cargo Service LLC and Michoud Blvd. Commerce Center LLC said insurers were wrongly withholding coverage for a $7.5 million warehouse...
