HSBC Unit Seeks Early Win In Jordanian's $6M Debt Dispute

Law360, London (March 11, 2019, 7:10 PM GMT) -- HSBC Bank Middle East Ltd. told a London judge Monday that a Jordanian national’s defense to avoid a $6 million payment to the lender as ordered by an overseas court does not stand up to the evidence and relies on notions that are “confusing and bizarre.”

Lawyers for HSBC Bank ME told Judge David Waksman that Jabra Jeries Ibrahim Sharbain’s defense against its claim for the recovery of outstanding loan payments does not have any prospect of success and that the High Court should grant summary judgment in the bank's favor.
