Waste Disposer Says BNP Can't Touch Italian Claims

Law360, London (August 5, 2019, 4:13 PM BST) -- An Italian garbage processor trying to repay a €413 million ($461 million) construction loan from BNP Paribas early to avoid costly interest has told a London court that the French bank should not be allowed to block its lawsuit over a financing agreement in Italy. 

Trattamento Rifiuti Metropolitani said in a defense filing at London's High Court on July 31 that BNP cannot torpedo claims it has brought in Turin accusing the lender of breaching its duties by refusing to allow the waste processor to repay the loan before the terms of the deal expired.
