Financial Data Exec Banned For Compliance Breaches

Law360, London (February 8, 2019, 7:14 PM GMT) -- A financial services director has been banned for four years and had his business shuttered after a junk text campaign about debt problems instigated by his company was found to have broken personal data rules, two U.K. regulators said Friday.

Keith Hancock has been barred from being a director after his now-defunct financial data company, Lad Media Limited, sent more than 393,000 text messages about debt management to members of the public without their consent, the Insolvency Service and U.K. data protection watchdog the Information Commissioner’s Office said in a joint statement.
