Purdue Pharma LP, the maker of OxyContin, agreed to pay $270 million to the state of Oklahoma to avoid going to trial on allegations of misleading marketing. Rochester Drug Cooperative Inc. recently agreed to pay the federal government $20 million after it admitted it intentionally violated federal laws by shipping opioids to pharmacies known for illegal distribution. Most recently, a federal jury found Insys Therapeutics executives guilty of racketeering by bribing doctors and misleading insurers about patient needs for the company's fentanyl-based drug....
