Fintech Startup Eyes Brussels Base Ahead Of Brexit
Law360, London (January 11, 2019, 11:53 AM GMT) -- One of Europe’s largest financial technology startups, TransferWise, has said it has applied for a license to operate in Brussels, amid mounting uncertainty about Britain’s plans to leave the European Union on March 29.
The money transfer company, which was launched by two Estonian brothers in 2011 and posted profits of £6.2 million ($7.9 million) for the year ending March 2018, announced the shift from the U.K. on Twitter.
