NY Should Think Twice Before Legalizing Sports Betting

Joseph Addabbo Jr., D-Howard Beach, and Assemblyman Gary Pretlow, D-Mount Vernon. Instead of rushing to compete in sports gambling with other states like neighboring New Jersey, New York state legislators should take note of sports gambling problems that have occurred in other states that have legalized it since the U.S. Supreme Court permitted such legalization in all 50 states last year. Those problems should give them pause before they enter a field that may well have more costs than benefits....
