Submit a Guest Article

Law360 Canada reviews guest submissions for publication. We do not pay for guest articles, nor charge for publishing.

Editors look for well-written analysis and op-eds by qualified experts on issues of current interest to the legal community, including cases, policies, deals, trends and debates.

The article must be written by the individual(s) named on the byline. Artificial intelligence tools may be used for research and refining, but the author must independently verify the accuracy of all content. Additional use of AI must be disclosed to Law360 Canada.

To submit articles or ideas, or to speak to an editor about submissions, please email Richard.skinulis@lexisnexis.ca. Articles are reviewed as soon as possible. Time-sensitive material should be noted with the submission.

Submission emails should include:

  1. A summary of the article idea and a proposed deadline (or a completed draft in Microsoft Word format).
  2. Each author's name, title, organization and brief bio.
  3. Disclosure to editors of any involvement by authors or their organizations with parties or matters discussed.

Articles should:

  1. Be original, up to date and 700-1200 words. Longer works are considered.
  2. Focus on news from the last 90 days unless discussing broader trends.
  3. Have no more than three authors on the byline.
  4. Include attribution for all quotes, and name all organizations referenced.
  5. In the article body, all matters referenced should include citations.

Articles should not:

  1. Have been previously published, other than in law firm publications.
  2. Be ranting, self-promotional, defamatory or plagiarized.
  3. Focus on an ongoing case in which the author is involved.
  4. Contain footnotes (include all citations in body copy).

Once an article is accepted for publication:

  1. Each bylined author will be required to sign a licence agreement and submit author headshots.
  2. Law360 Canada proofreads and copy edits the article.
  3. Law360 Canada reserves the right to alter headlines — length and tone — to fit our style.
  4. Law360 Canada does not send edited articles back to authors for review before publishing.

Once an article is published by Law360 Canada:

  1. It cannot be republished for 48 hours. Reproduced versions of the story must carry the disclaimer “This article was originally published by Law360 Canada (www.law360.ca) a division of LexisNexis Canada.”
  2. You will be notified and sent a PDF.
  3. Law360 Canada may be unable to honour requests to modify it, including for reasons of employee hires or departures, etc.
  4. The author retains copyright, but Law360 Canada reserves the right to republish parts or all of an article indefinitely without any royalty payments.
