A man who found himself on the wrong side of a more than $15 million default judgment for pirating movies through his virtual private network provider and then filed for bankruptcy urged a Florida federal court to continue its stay on enforcing the judgment.

A Florida judge on Tuesday suspended a $500-per-day civil contempt order against a manager of a now-defunct virtual private network company who was told to pay more than $15.1 million in copyright damages for illegally downloading movies, as long as he provides financial information and meets for a deposition.

A Florida federal judge issued a final order Tuesday granting several film studios a more than $15 million default judgment against a waste company they say is owned by the same man whose virtual private network provider allowed users to violate copyright laws by downloading pirated movies.
