A Minnesota federal judge has decided that Nationwide Mortgage Bankers Inc. cannot escape a lawsuit from Wells Fargo alleging the lender breached its contract by not repurchasing mortgages.

Nationwide Mortgage Bankers Inc. asked a federal judge in Minnesota on Friday to dismiss a lawsuit from Wells Fargo Bank NA seeking $1.2 million for breach of contract over incurred losses on mortgages that Nationwide did not buy back, saying the bank did not specify how it breached a contract.

Wells Fargo Bank NA is suing Nationwide Mortgage Bankers Inc. in Minnesota federal court for roughly $1.2 million, claiming the company violated a loan purchase agreement when it sold Wells Fargo three mortgage loans that contained incorrect information and then refused to buy the loans back.
