ProMedica Health System Inc. is pressing the U.S. Supreme Court to review its nixed merger with a small Ohio hospital, arguing that justices will miss a rare opportunity to review vital disputes in antitrust law if they decline the case.

The Federal Trade Commission on Friday failed to get an Ohio federal court to appoint a monitor to make sure ProMedica Health System Inc. does not consolidate its operations with St. Luke's hospital while the agency finalizes its ruling that the proposed merger violates antitrust laws.
