Gag Order Issued On NFL Concussion Race-Norming Talks
A Pennsylvania federal magistrate judge has issued a gag order telling the NFL, concussion class counsel Chris Seeger of Seeger Weiss LLP and former players' attorneys from Zuckerman Spaeder LLP not to discuss the status of mediation on ending the controversial use of race-based norms in cognitive testing in the NFL's concussion settlement.

The insolvent firm of Tim Howard, a Florida attorney who was accused of swindling NFL players out of their life savings and was recently disqualified from the league's concussion settlement, owes litigation funder Virage Capital Management $30 million, according to recent insolvency proceedings in Florida state court.

A Florida attorney accused of swindling NFL players out of their life savings also "engaged in a wide-ranging, long-standing, and brazen pattern and practice of manufacturing evidence" for concussion settlement payout claims, the settlement's special masters found in a recent decision to disqualify the lawyer and his former firm.

NFL 'Race Norming' Settlement Expected By End Of Summer
A federal magistrate judge overseeing mediation between the NFL, concussion class counsel Chris Seeger of Seeger Weiss LLP and former player attorneys from Zuckerman Spaeder LLP to end the controversial use of race-based norms in cognitive testing in the NFL concussion settlement said in an update on the status of those talks that the parties could agree on a new testing program "before summer's end."
