Sales representatives suing an international food distributor over unpaid overtime claims urged the U.S. Supreme Court not to disturb a Fourth Circuit ruling finding that they didn't fit federal law's overtime exemption, saying a question the company wants to be addressed would not affect the ruling's substance.

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce and several food retail trade groups urged the U.S. Supreme Court to overturn a Fourth Circuit decision not to apply an outside sales exemption to a proposed class of workers suing over unpaid overtime, saying the ruling went against six other circuits' positions.
