The Sixth Circuit on Tuesday held that Financial Strategy Group PLC could not seek coverage from Continental Casualty Co. for a pair of lawsuits accusing the financial services firm of authorizing the use of illegal tax shelters, ruling that the alleged activity fell under a policy exemption.

Financial services firm Financial Strategy Group PLC asked the Sixth Circuit Monday to reverse a lower court ruling that said Continental Casualty Co. isn't obligated to cover Financial Strategy in lawsuits over its accounting practices because the claims fell into a tax shelter exclusion.
