MP Calls On FCA To Probe Hedge Funds, Pollsters Links
Law360, London (October 11, 2018, 12:24 PM BST) -- The head of Parliament's influential Treasury Committee has revealed she is to ask the Financial Conduct Authority to investigate the relationship between polling companies and hedge funds amid fears for the integrity of the market.
Committee chairwoman Nicky Morgan said she is concerned about polling companies selling price-sensitive private data to hedge funds, particularly during election and referendum campaigns, and says she fears for "the integrity of U.K. financial markets." Morgan disclosed on Wednesday that she will write to the FCA "to seek the financial regulator’s view on the matter.”
