EBA Details Securitization Rules As New Framework Kicks In
Law360, London (December 13, 2018, 5:40 PM GMT) -- The European Banking Authority has published rules that will allow financial firms across the bloc to identify whether their securitization products are eligible for relaxed capital holdings, ahead of a European Union framework taking force in January.
The EBA set out criteria Wednesday to identify securitization products that will be classified as “simple, transparent and standardized,” or STS. The authority’s final rules will enable STS securitizations to receive preferential capital treatment under the European Union’s Securitization Regulation.
