Consumer Guru Drops Facebook Suit Over Bitcoin Scam Ads

Law360, London (January 23, 2019, 6:22 PM GMT) -- Consumer campaigner Martin Lewis said on Wednesday he has dropped his legal action against Facebook over a series of ads that ran on its platform featuring his name and that have been used to con people out of thousands of pounds.

Lewis had lodged papers against the social media giant for defamation in the High Court last year claiming Facebook was failing to prevent scam adverts — which are often fronts for get-rich-quick or phishing scams — using his name and image.
