NatWest Wins $16M Loan Battle With Shipping Co.

Law360, London (May 2, 2019, 5:31 PM BST) -- The investment banking branch of Royal Bank of Scotland Group did not breach a $15.7 million loan contract when it told a Greek shipping magnate to repay the balance in full after he failed to post additional security, a judge in London ruled Thursday.

High Court Judge Robin Knowles granted judgment in favor of NatWest Markets PLC in its mortgage dispute with Stallion Eight Shipping Co., ruling on Thursday that the investment bank had not acted arbitrarily or in bad faith when it accelerated repayment of the loan.
