Investec Bank Fights To Overturn UK Cost Liability Ruling

Law360, London (May 10, 2019, 7:16 PM BST) -- Investec Bank on Friday challenged a decision by a London judge allowing a family to seek legal costs after the bank went after their properties to satisfy debts of their bankrupt relative who defrauded an investor.

A lawyer for the bank, Joshua Munro of Hailsham Chambers, argued to the High Court that the judge erred in holding that an agreement Investec made to assign its financial claims to the defrauded investor didn’t release the bank from liability for those costs when the investor reached a settlement with the debtor’s son and daughter-in-law.
