Mogul Threatened To Kill $2B Fraud Witness, Prosecutors Say

Law360, London (September 7, 2020, 4:34 PM BST) -- An Indian diamond magnate defrauded a national bank out of some $2 billion and threatened to kill one witness and intimidated others to escape accountability for his crimes, a British prosecutor said on Monday as India seeks to extradite the jeweler.

Helen Malcolm QC, of the Crown Prosecution Service, said that Nirav Modi also had incriminating evidence destroyed, which she said was further proof of his wrongdoing.
