Bank Errors Hurt Bereaved Families, Consumer Group Says

Law360, London (February 16, 2021, 5:57 PM GMT) -- British banks are making "unacceptable mistakes" that are leaving bereaved families potentially out of pocket, a consumer group has said, as it called on the sector to be more effective and compassionate.

Which? has published the findings of a November 2020 survey of 1,600 people of their experience of acting as executors. The study, released on Monday, found that some banks are losing death certificates or not closing the accounts of customers who have died, which can cause distress to grieving families.
