A Texas tribe on Monday urged a Texas federal court to lift a longstanding injunction against its gaming activities, saying that recent federal agency decisions affirmed that the tribe can conduct gaming on its lands and that the federal government is in charge of regulating those operations.

The Ysleta del Sur Pueblo on Tuesday submitted two detailed plans to continue running a sweepstakes in response to a Texas federal court order that threatened to shut down the game, arguing that either plan was viable because players could participate for free.

A Texas federal judge found the Ysleta del Sur Pueblo tribe in contempt of court on Friday for illegally running a tribal sweepstakes on its reservation without the court's approval, and ordered the tribe either to shut down the operation or submit a detailed plan for an acceptable sweepstakes.
