A New Jersey federal judge on Thursday agreed to dismiss litigation between General Dynamics Corp. and a retired U.S. Army soldier, settling claims that the company's machine gun malfunctioned and injured him while he was on duty in Afghanistan.

Although a New Jersey federal judge on Wednesday dismissed a retired soldier's suit blaming General Dynamics Corp. and Alliant Techsystems Inc. for an alleged machine gun malfunction that injured him while on duty in Afghanistan, the judge left a clear path for the veteran to amend his complaint.
