In a Wednesday ruling that sparked a spat between opposing counsel, a New York federal court dismissed former New York City Police Commissioner Bernard B. Kerik's malpractice and racketeering suit against Manhattan criminal defense attorney Joseph Tacopina, whom Kerik had blamed for his conviction on tax and obstruction charges.

Former New York City Police Department Chief Bernard B. Kerik asked a New York federal judge Thursday to preserve his malpractice suit over his conviction on tax and obstruction charges against suspended Yankee Alex Rodriguez's attorney, calling evidence of the lawyer's misconduct "overwhelming."
