The Puyallup Tribe of Indians asked a Washington federal judge Thursday to let it intervene in a federal lawsuit targeting state-run fish hatcheries that release salmon into Puget Sound to help sustain orca populations, arguing that an environmental group's legal efforts to block the hatcheries violates the tribe's historic fishing rights.
