A New Jersey federal judge has dismissed claims brought against the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Committee in a lawsuit that seeks to hold the committee and others responsible for the death of a former U.S. Olympic bobsledder, finding his court does not have personal jurisdiction over the organization.

The U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Committee and USA Bobsled/Skeleton Inc. have urged a New Jersey federal judge to toss negligence and wrongful death claims from the family of a former bobsledder, arguing the court lacks personal jurisdiction over the claims because no bobsled competitions or practices ever took place in the Garden State.
