Order Reassigning Case
TEXT ORDER OF REASSIGNMENT. This case and the corresponding hearings are reassigned to Chief District Judge Colin Stirling Bruce and Magistrate Judge Eric I. Long for further proceedings. Entered by Chief District Judge Colin Stirling Bruce on 8/19/26. (ED)
Order
TEXT ORDER: Plaintiff's 1 Complaint was filed in the Central District of Illinois's Peoria Division, but the case likely belongs in the Urbana Division. Civil Local Rule 40.1 provides the divisions of the U.S. District Court for the Central District of Illinois in which complaints and subsequent filings will be filed. See Civil LR 40.1(A)-(D) (explaining that complaints should be filed in the division in which the case arises). All the factual allegations in Plaintiff's Complaint appear to concern conduct that occurred at Defendant's equipment facility in Danville, Illinois, which is located in Vermillion County, Illinois. Vermillion County is embraced by the Urbana Division. Indeed, Plaintiff himself appears to recognize this case belongs in the Urbana Division, as the caption of the Complaint reads, in part, "Urbana Division." Accordingly, the Clerk is DIRECTED to TRANSFER this case to the Urbana Division of the United States District Court for the Central District of Illinois. Entered by Magistrate Judge Ronald L. Hanna on August 19, 2026. (ED)
