Memo Endorsement ~Util - Set Deadlines
MEMO ENDORSEMENT on re: 243 Letter filed by United Probation Officers Association, Cathy Washington, Emma Stovall, Tara Smith, Jean Brown, Tanga Johnson. ENDORSEMENT: Following a quick review, the Court is doubtful that any new arguments were made in the reply brief but does not have the time now to make the determination. The Court will temporarily permit plaintiffs to file, by June 22, 2026, a surreply letter or brief with a maximum of 1750 words (excluding the items set forth in the third paragraph of Local Civil Rule 7.1(c)) but only to address arguments purportedly made for the first time in defendant's reply brief that could not have been anticipated and that are clearly identified. If necessary to address plaintiffs' surreply, defendant may file a response of the same maximum length by June 25, 2026. The parties are reminded that they are not permitted to incorporate documents by reference into their briefs. See 2.D of the Courts Individual Practices. If the Court determines at a later date that defendant's reply brief did not contain new arguments, the Court may strike the additional briefing. So Ordered. ( Responses due by 6/25/2026, Surreplies due by 6/22/2026.) (Signed by Magistrate Judge Gabriel W. Gorenstein on 6/17/2026) (cf)
