Order
ORDER ~ The court previously directed Michael S. Vernon, Esq. to show cause why he should not be sanctioned for violating Fed.R.Civ.P. 11 in connection with his June 5, 2026, filing of a motion to dismiss 868 . Mr. Vernon has responded to the court's order. The court concludes Mr. Vernon did violate Rule 11, that the violation was significant and substantial, and that a meaningful penalty must therefore be imposed. Mr. Michael S. Vernon, Esq. is hereby SANCTIONED for violation of Fed.R.Civ.P. 11 with a penalty in the amount of $7500. He is ordered to pay that amount into the registry of this court within twenty-one days from entry of this Order, as more fully set out in the Order. Signed by Judge Joe Heaton on 7/16/2026. (dwl)
