DOCKET ENTRY ORDER: Before the Court is BJP Carpentry, LLC's Motion for Extension of Time to File Reply Brief. Dkt. 64 . The Court understands that busy schedules and illness can justify extending deadlines. However, the Court disfavors requests for extension that are filed in the eleventh hour, and it appears BJP did not attempt to seek a stipulation to the extension from opposing counsel or state a reason for not doing so. Further, there is no mention of why Mr. Crawford could not have completed the brief in the time allotted. That said, there is a strong preference to resolve matters on the merits, and BJP's conduct, while certainly not best practices, is not so egregious as to justify denial of its motion. For that reason, the motion is GRANTED. In the future and wherever possible, counsel is encouraged to reach out to opposing counsel in an effort to secure a stipulation, or file their motion before the submission deadline to allow adequate consideration of the motion.
