Order on Motion for Extension of Time to Answer
TEXT ORDER: Defendant Champaign County Illinois and Lora Keller's 26 Motion for Extension of Time to Answer or Otherwise Plead is GRANTED. Under Fed. R. Civ. P. 6(b)(1)(A), courts may, for good cause, extend time when a request is made before the original deadline expires. Defendants Champaign County and Keller request a brief extension to investigate the factual allegations and of Plaintiff's complaint. The Court thus finds good cause. The Court notes, however, that Defendants have not stated whether Plaintiff objects to the extension, in violation of Civil Local Rule 6.1. Nonetheless, the Court finds the brief extension appropriate; Defendants Champaign County and Keller are reminded of their obligation to comply with all applicable local rules moving forward. Accordingly, Defendants Champaign County and Keller must file an answer or other responsive pleading to Plaintiff's complaint on or by July 31, 2026. Entered by Magistrate Judge Ronald L.
