FCA Warns Firms About Misleading Financial Adverts
Law360, London (January 9, 2019, 6:05 PM GMT) -- Financial Conduct Authority executives warned senior managers on Wednesday they will be reprimanded if their companies are found to be issuing misleading material about financial promotions.
The watchdog said it has recently been made aware of some firms issuing financial promotions that suggest or imply that all of their activities are regulated by the FCA or the Bank of England’s Prudential Regulation Authority. Some ads are leaving consumers unable to determine whether the products or services they are being encouraged to purchase are regulated or not.
