BT Pulls UK Swipe Fee Antitrust Suit Against MasterCard

Law360, London (January 10, 2019, 4:15 PM GMT) -- BT and three other telecommunications companies have withdrawn their damages claim at the Competition Appeal Tribunal against MasterCard Inc. and its international and European arms over interchange fees.

British Telecommunications PLC, EE Ltd., Plusnet PLC and BT’s e-commerce subsidiary DABS.com have dropped their suit against MasterCard, according to a consent order filed with the tribunal on Monday. The companies had alleged that the credit card giant “acted unlawfully” and breached its statutory duty to them when it set minimum or default fees for U.K. transactions.
