Watch Where You're Going, Driverless Car Operators Are Told

Law360, London (February 13, 2019, 4:03 PM GMT) -- Motorists behind the wheel of some driverless cars should keep their eyes on the road and pay attention to their ride in case of an emergency, a trade organization for insurers in the U.K. warned on Wednesday.

Only highly automated cars are designed to allow their drivers to attend to other tasks while on the move — and even then individuals should be legally required to pay attention to their journey, the International Underwriting Association of London said.

The group, which represents companies in the City's insurance market, said it should be illegal for operators of all but the most advanced vehicles to slack...
