Fraudulent Insurance Claims In UK Jumped 27% In 2018

Cifas, a nonprofit fraud prevention service, said that fraudulent claims against household and motor insurance had leapt by 52 percent and 45 percent, respectively, between 2017 and 2018, with total claims rising by 27 percent.

“Committing fraud hurts everyone,” Mike Haley, chief executive officer of Cifas, said in a statement Tuesday. “Insurers have to spend longer reviewing insurance claims and policy requests, premiums go up, and everyone loses out.”
