Second Atty Sanctioned For Monsanto MDL Opening Remark

Law360 (May 21, 2019, 11:17 PM EDT) -- A California federal judge sanctioned a second attorney who represented the victorious plaintiff in a high-profile jury trial over claims that Monsanto's Roundup weedkiller causes cancer, ruling Tuesday that she had joined her already-sanctioned colleague in violating pretrial orders.

U.S. District Judge Vince Chhabria said that Jennifer Moore, of Moore Law Group PLLC, was meaningfully involved in preparing the opening statement given by Aimee Wagstaff of Andrus Wagstaff, who violated his pretrial orders by mentioning during trial openings at least five topics that he excluded from the first causation phase of the trial.
