Hiscox Displays New Jersey Flood Risk With New Reality App

Law360, London (October 25, 2019, 4:22 PM BST) -- Insurer Hiscox has launched an augmented-reality app using a New Jersey suburb to demonstrate how rising sea levels could begin swamping homes by the end of the century.

The London-based property insurer said Thursday it has made the app — FloodPlus AR — available for download for both Apple and Android devices. It is one of several insurers that are using augmented reality both in risk management and as an aid to processing claims. 

Augmented reality superimposes digital images over a phone camera's display. It is an increasingly popular choice for app developers and was popularized by Pokemon Go.
