Law360, London (December 19, 2019, 4:57 PM GMT) -- The European Union moved a step closer on Thursday to forging new rules to make it easier for businesses and investors to ask consumers to fund their projects, after the European Parliament gave provisional approval to plans for standards for crowdfunding campaigns across the bloc.
The European Council proposed draft laws in June that would set the minimum standards that crowdfunding platforms would have to meet across the EU. Crowdfunding platforms would have to conform with one set of minimum requirements, regardless of which country they operate in, rather than complying with different regulatory regimes.
