EIOPA Warns Consumers About Add-On Insurance Products

Law360, London (December 20, 2019, 5:20 PM GMT) -- Europe’s insurance watchdog has found an overall improvement in the sector’s transparency with consumers but warned that there are still some risky products being sold to unwitting consumers and causing potential harm.

The European Insurance and Occupational Pensions Authority published its annual report on consumer trends for 2019 on Thursday. It found that overall, insurers were better informing their customers and being more transparent about their products.

However, there were some products that continue to put consumers at risk, particularly vulnerable consumers, the watchdog said.
