EU Parliament Set To Approve Commission Reshuffle

Law360 (October 5, 2020, 12:03 PM EDT) -- The European Parliament looks set to approve a new commissioner and the reassignment of another, paving the way for the two to take office, representatives for some of the Parliament's main groups said Monday.

The Parliament will vote on the nomination of Mairead McGuinness to the post of financial services commissioner and the reassignment of Valdis Dombrovskis to the trade portfolio on Wednesday.

"We are endorsing both candidates," said Michael Strauss, spokesman of the Conservatives and Reformists bloc, during a webcast news briefing ahead of the start of the Parliament's plenary session in Brussels.
