EU Insurers Back Commission's Consumer Protection Agenda
Law360, London (October 8, 2020, 3:13 PM BST) -- European insurers said Thursday they are backing the European Commission's move to beef up consumer protection in the bloc as the financial and insurance sectors battle with COVID-19, the push toward moving the sector onto digital platforms and the move toward sustainable finance.
Insurance Europe, a trade body representing the sector, responded to the European Commission's consultation on its proposed regime known as the New Consumer Agenda, saying that insurers supported the move to incorporate stronger measures to protect consumers from financial harm into the legislation.
