UK Eyes Tougher Rule For Big Tech Amid Global Clampdown

Law360, London (December 17, 2020, 5:45 PM GMT) -- The U.K.'s antitrust watchdog called for a tougher regulatory regime for the country's most powerful tech companies in the wake of a broader global crackdown on big companies like Google and Facebook, which regulators see as thwarting competition.

The Competition and Markets Authority on Wednesday delivered the final proposals that came out of its review of the regulation of big tech, called the Digital Markets Taskforce, on the proposed new framework dedicated to maintaining competition in the tech sector.
