MP Urges FCA To Investigate British Gas Insurance Backlog

Law360, London (January 13, 2021, 6:01 PM GMT) -- A Labour Party MP called on Wednesday on the Financial Conduct Authority to probe a backlog of work involving Centrica, the parent company of energy provider British Gas, amid concerns that its home insurance customers are being affected by an industrial dispute at the firm.

Centrica prompted workers to launch industrial action after it tried to impose poor terms and then threatened to "fire and rehire" them, Navendu Mishra said in a letter to the financial regulator. The actions triggered strike action, which has resulted in a situation in which insurance commitments will not be met, according to Mishra.
