Law Needed To Combat Online Fraud, Investors' Body Says

Law360, London (February 10, 2021, 4:06 PM GMT) -- Fraud in the U.K. can now only be tackled by creating new laws to protect consumers from online crooks, an investment industry association has said, as it pointed to figures that show the problem is becoming "an ever-present danger in daily lives."

The Personal Investment Management & Financial Advice Association called on Tuesday for the government to include the subject of economic harm in the forthcoming Online Safety Bill. Doing so could allow internet service providers to play a role in helping to prevent fraud, the association said.
