'Wrong' Partner Claiming Child Benefit Risks Pensions

Law360, London (April 6, 2021, 1:25 PM BST) -- Approximately 200,000 people in Britain who earn less than their partners could end up receiving a much lower pension because the wrong family member is claiming child benefits, a pensions consultancy has said.

The wrong partner in these families — the person who earns most — is claiming child benefit, LCP said, based on data it obtained from HM Revenue and Customs through a freedom of information request.
