Swiss Regulator Approves First Digital Tokens Exchange

By Lucia Osborne-Crowley (September 10, 2021, 11:12 AM BST) -- The Swiss financial markets regulator said on Friday that it has given authorization to an exchange specializing in digital tokens trading, a milestone for Europe's developing market in virtual assets.

The Swiss Financial Market Supervisory Authority said it has issued its first-ever approval for a stock exchange and a central securities depository for the trading of tokens, or virtual currencies.

The authority, known as FINMA, has given approval for SIX Digital Exchange AGs to act as a central securities depository and the associated company SDX Trading AG to act as a stock exchange.
