Polish Atty Who Kept UK Practice After Brexit Faces Prison

By Joanne Faulkner (November 17, 2021, 2:23 PM GMT) -- A Polish lawyer who allegedly continued his practice in the U.K. in breach of Brexit rule changes could face prison for failing to hand over client files, after a judge ruled Wednesday that he had acted in contempt of court. 

Judge Mark Cawson QC, sitting as a High Court judge, found that registered foreign lawyer Jakub Pawlak disobeyed court orders to hand over paper and electronic files from his practice of JP Law, which operated in Stockport, Greater Manchester, following an intervention from the Law Society of England and Wales.
