EU To Add Gas, Nuclear To Green Finance Classification Rules

By Najiyya Budaly (January 4, 2022, 2:45 PM GMT) -- The European Union has said that investors can consider companies that source energy from natural gas and nuclear to be sustainable, as the bloc seeks to help consumers pour money into businesses that contribute to meeting net-zero-carbon goals.

The European Commission said on Saturday that it plans to add some gas- and nuclear-based activities to the EU Taxonomy Climate Delegated Act, a package of rules.

The act creates a common language for investors who want to put money into projects that are advertised as being environmentally friendly. The rules also add technical screening to define which of the companies' activities contribute...
