EU Insurers Urge Bloc To Expand Retail Investment Review

By Lucia Osborne-Crowley (January 6, 2022, 12:44 PM GMT) -- European insurers have called on the bloc's executive arm to take into account the views of the sector in its upcoming review of legislation designed to protect individual investors.

Insurance Europe, a trade body representing the sector, said on Wednesday that the European Commission should ensure it has a strong focus on insurance products in the review of its retail investment strategy. The commission has asked the European Securities and Markets Authority for advice on the efficacy of its regime that governs retail investments.
